Paul Rands's designs had a heavy influence on the way I chose to design this book. Design + Play Instinct really allowed me to expand from my typical design preferences. I added a lot of vibrant playful colors that move across the spreads. While running into frustrations with using a grid, but also designing a rhythmic movement I thought back to Rand saying "Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated.”
